Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, visited Kano State to pay his condolences to the families of the 16 travelers who were brutally killed in Uromi, Edo State.

This gesture comes after the victims, mostly from Kano State, were mistakenly identified as kidnappers and lynched by a mob.

During his visit, Governor Okpebholo revealed that 14 suspects have been arrested in connection with the heinous act.

These suspects are currently being transferred to Abuja for further interrogation, marking a significant step towards justice for the victims and their families.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many condemning the brutal killing of innocent lives. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the police and other security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

Governor Okpebholo’s visit to Kano State is a welcome move, as it demonstrates his commitment to ensuring that justice is served. The people of Kano State and the families of the victims appreciate this gesture, and it is hoped that it will help to alleviate their grief.

As the investigation into this heinous act continues, it is essential that justice is served, and the perpetrators are held accountable. The souls of the victims must be remembered, and their families must receive the support and compensation they deserve.

In related news, the Northern States Governors’ Forum has condemned the killing, describing it as a “gross violation of human rights”. The Forum has called for a thorough investigation and swift action against those responsible.

May the souls of the victims rest in peace.
