NSCDC deploys 6,225 personnel, warns officers against compromise

Published on

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo Command, on Friday said it has deployed 6,225 personnel for Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State.

The Deputy Commandant in charge of elections, Philip Ayuba, stated this while briefing journalists on the level of preparedness of his personnel for the election.

He emphasized that the command’s mandate is to provide a conducive environment for free, fair, and credible elections.

According to Ayuba, adequate arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth election process, with 6,225 personnel deployed for the exercise. He assured that every effort will be made to ensure the election is successful, noting that Ondo State has a history of peaceful elections, which will be upheld.

However, the Deputy Commandant warned his men and officers not to undermine the governorship election in the state. He stated that any officer found guilty of compromising the election process would be dismissed from service.

While assuring that the formation is prepared to address anyone planning to disrupt the election, he said, “We want the people to trust us and believe in us; we shall give them the best and nothing but the best.”

He said: “However, let me just say, from the authority of the civil defense. We don’t condone any act of unprofessionalism from any of our officers and men.

“Anybody who decides to commit any atrocity, I think he is asking himself to be out of the system. We shall not leave anybody. Once you commit, you should know your way is out.”
