    Notorious Kano terrorist dies, as Police arrest kidnappers, others

    A wanted terrorist, Abba Burakita, who has been terrorizing residents of Kano state has been confirmed dead by the Kano State Police Command.

    The spokesperson of the Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna confirmed the death of the notorious terrorist while parading other suspects arrested for various crimes at the Bompai police headquarters on Monday.

    SP Haruna said Burakita died at Murtala Specialist Hospital in Kano city, where he was taken after arrest for treatment from life threatening injuries he had sustained during a clash with another rivalry groups.

    According to him, “Last Friday, at about 04:30pm, we received a distress call from State Road and residents of Dorayi Quarters, Kano that an armed robbery gang led by one Abba Bala aka Burakita, ‘m’, of Dorayi Karama Quarters and another led by Halifa aka Duguja ‘m’ of Dorayi Gidan Shanu Quarters, Kano respectively robbed innocent citizens and destroy their properties including Motor Vehicles, Tricycles, Motorcycles.

    “On receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police raised teams of operatives and ordered the cordoning of the areas and arrest of the fugitives. Consequently, the team swung into action and arrested one of the ring leaders who is on the wanted list of the Command for thuggery-related crimes; Abba Bala Burakita. The suspect was arrested with life-threatening injuries after a clash with rival Daba groups. Additional two suspects namely; Abubakar Idris, ‘m’, 28 years old and Najibullah Yahaya, ‘m’, 21 years old, all of Dorayi Quarters, Kano were arrested at Dorayi Quarters Kano. Burakita was rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano, where he died while receiving treatment. The case is under investigation,” SP Haruna said.

    The Police Public Relations Officer, while giving a breakdown of breakthrough recorded by command, said it arrested notorious kidnappers in Makarfi LGA Forest in Kaduna State, armed robbery suspects, motor vehicle thieves and drug dealers.

    “Over the past three (3) weeks, that is from 12th August to 2nd September, 2024, the Police Command has recorded significant successes in various operations, resulting in the arrest of a total of ninety-two (92) suspects including the arrest of; notorious kidnappers in Makarfi LGA Forest in Kaduna State, armed robbery suspects, motor vehicle thieves, drug dealers and the death of a wanted armed robbery thug named Abba Burakita that has been on the Command’s wanted list for cases of armed robbery and related offences, and recovery of dangerous weapons, intoxicating substances, and stolen items.

    “The achievements recorded within twenty-one (21) days is as follows, arrests of Sixteen (16) suspected armed robber, Three (3) suspected kidnappers, Seven (7) suspected thieves, Six (6) suspected drug dealers, Seven (7) suspected fraudsters, Six (6) motorcycle thieves and Forty-seven (47) suspected thugs.

    “These achievements demonstrate the hard work, professionalism, and dedication of our officers and men, who have worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all inhabitants in the State.

    “Since assumption of duty by CP Salman Dogo Garba as the Commissioner of Police in Kano State, the Command has been working assiduously and has recorded positive results in addressing the menace of thuggery (Fadan Daba) and other related crimes,” SP Haruna however stated.
