Abuja— Northern Governors represented by Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, on Sunday joined dignitaries, family members and mourners at the National Mosque Abuja for the funeral prayer of the late Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, mother of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya, who is the Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, expressed deep sorrow over the loss and commiserated with Malam Nasir and the entire El-Rufai family.
He described the demise of a mother as a profound and irreplaceable loss that leaves an enduring void in the hearts of her children and loved ones.
He paid glowing tribute to the late matriarch, noting that Hajiya Umma lived a life characterized by humility, compassion and strong moral values, having nurtured a family grounded in discipline and service.
On behalf of the Government and people of Gombe State and the Northern states Governors’ Forum, Governor Yahaya extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, urging them to find solace in the exemplary life she lived and the positive legacy she left behind.
He prayed Almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings, reward her good deeds and grant her Aljannat Firdaus.
Dignitaries at the funeral service included the 16th Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sunusi, Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu and the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
