NOA Director General defends Tax Reform Bill in Kebbi, seeks media support

Published on

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) Director General defended the tax reform bill currently before the National Assembly during a visit to Kebbi State on Friday.
Represented by Director of Documentation, Translation and Publications, John Bala Asate, the DG emphasized the bill’s potential to alleviate multiple taxes on low-income earners, providing them with value for their money.

Asate noted that widespread misconceptions about the bill necessitate public sensitization.
The NOA is seeking media support on five critical national issues: security, HIV/AIDS, human rights, get rich quick syndrome and tax reform. Asate stressed the need for improved funding of security agencies to ensure nationwide safety.

The federal government has demonstrated commitment to upholding human dignity through established laws, and has expressed concerns about the link between get rich quick syndrome and crimes like internet fraud.

Kebbi State Governor, Idris Atiku, pledged support for the NOA’s sensitization drive through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Yahya Sarki.

However, Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Alhaji Abdullahi Idris Zuru, suggested that sensitization efforts should have preceded the bill’s presentation to the National Assembly.

The event, held in Birnin Kebbi, aimed to commemorate World AIDS Day and promote wider sensitization on critical national issues.
