NDLEA arrests nurse, two others for cocaine, loud trafficking, seizes N7bn opioids

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made several significant arrests and seizures at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport and seaports in Lagos and Rivers State.

Two men, Ihejirika Okechukwu Emmanuel and Iwuagwu Ikedi Victory, were arrested for attempting to import and export cocaine pellets. Emmanuel, who frequents Thailand, was caught with five big egg-size wraps of cocaine weighing 400 grams, while Victory ingested 30 wraps but excreted 29 pellets in Addis Ababa.
A Canada-based nurse, Usman Grace Khadijat Olami, was arrested with 70 parcels of Canadian Loud, weighing 35.70 kilograms.
At the seaports, a total of 162,351 bottles of codeine-based syrup and 7,200,000 pills of Royal 225mg Tapentadol and Carisoprodol worth N3.6 billion were seized from containers at the Apapa seaport and Port Harcourt Port Complex. Additionally, 780 cartons of chlorphenamine containing 15,600,000 pills of the opioid were recovered.

Other arrests include a suspect caught with 76,600 pills of tramadol in Bauchi, 672 kilograms of cannabis seized in Ondo, and a suspected meth cook arrested with 265 grams of methamphetamine and precursor chemicals in Lagos.
The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the officers for their operational successes and balanced approach to drug supply reduction and demand reduction efforts
