The Nigerian Armed Forces have achieved considerable success in the fight against insurgency, banditry, and other threats to national security since the current administration took office, according to Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Mohammed Bello Matawalle ¹.

Despite these accomplishments, many success stories remain undisclosed to protect the brave men and women of the Armed Forces from potential danger.

Matawalle revealed this during a meeting with Special Assistant to the President, Hadiza Bala Usman, where she presented the 2024 Performance Assessment Report at the Ship House in Abuja.

He highlighted the significant decrease in oil theft, bunkering, piracy, and kidnapping incidents since assuming office [1).
The Minister assured early submission of achievement data for review and pledged to continue working towards a safer society.

In response, the Special Assistant advised the Ministry to share more data publicly to dispel doubts and showcase successes in combating insecurity [1).

To provide firsthand evidence of progress, regional tours of troubled areas could be conducted, featuring on-the-spot interviews with rescued individuals.

This approach would provide authentic data and demonstrate the government’s commitment to addressing insecurity.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, praised the Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs for their tireless efforts in maintaining peace and security.
He urged the Ministry’s Directors to maintain their dedication to serving the country.
