As the Federal Government (FG) plans modern pedestrian bridges for the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Redemption Camp and Christ Embassy along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has appealed for an additional pedestrian bridge to be constructed at the NASFAT camp crossing in the same axis.
The appeal was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday, 17th February, 2026 by the Executive Director of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), Professor Ishaq Akintola.
The full statement reads:
”The Federal Government (FG) has reportedly approved the construction of modern pedestrian bridges for the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Redemption Camp and Christ Embassy, Asese, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway (https://www.tvcnews.tv/fg-approves-pedestrian-bridges-along-lagos-ibadan-expressway/).
“This is a commendable step on the part of FG. While infrastructure is crucial to economic development, conscious efforts should be made to protect human lives. This is where modern pedestrian bridges become mandatory.
”Modern pedestrian bridges in front of both Redemption Camp and Christ Embassy are absolute necessities in view of the volume of both vehicular and human traffic in those places in order to save lives. The decision to erect pedestrian bridges there confirm the concern of FG for the safety of Nigerians.
”But as work picks up at the Redemption Camp and Christ Embassy along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, we call FG’s attention to a similar humanitarian situation at NASFAT camp along the same axis.
“We remind FG that NASFAT’s pedestrian bridge has been among the 23 pedestrian bridges planned for construction along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway ab initio.
