In a heart-stopping moment of terror, a woman narrowly escaped death when her Toyota Camry veered off the upper deck of the Otedola Bridge along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Monday morning.
The incident, which occurred at around 9:35 am, could have been a fatal one, but thanks to the swift response of emergency services, the driver was rescued and rushed to the hospital for treatment.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman was traveling at an excessive speed when she suddenly applied her brakes to avoid another vehicle maneuvering into her lane. The sudden deceleration caused her car to veer uncontrollably and plummet off the bridge.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) and other emergency responders, including the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LSNSC), and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), sprang into action, arriving at the scene promptly to rescue the victim.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, lamented the incident, attributing it to reckless driving and disregard for established safety protocols. “This unfortunate occurrence could have been entirely circumvented had the driver complied with the statutory speed regulations,” he stated.
Bakare-Oki urged all road users to exercise greater caution and uphold the tenets of the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law of and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured motorist
