A 25-year-old man, Nnaemeke Edwin Odikpo, was arrested inside the Onitsha Sports Club in Anambra State for allegedly burying charms on the club premises.

Odikpo, a native of Umuenwelu Anam in Anambra West Local Government Area, was arrested by security operatives between 2 and 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday. He confessed to club officials that he was seeking forgiveness for his past sins, including a failed attempt to use his mother for a money ritual in 2023.

The suspect’s family members, including his uncle, Ikechukwu Nnachor, and siblings, Udezuo Anekwe and Aloysius Anekwe, confirmed that Odikpo had been behaving strangely since the botched ritual attempt.

After interrogation, Odikpo was released to his family members, who signed an undertaking to ensure he does not return to the club premises. As a deterrent, Odikpo was given 13 strokes of the cane before his release.

The incident has raised concerns about the security of the club premises, which has been at the center of a land dispute between the club members and the Ekwerekwu family.
