    Man slaughters friend over argument in Kebbi

    TheUsually bustling Birnin Kebbi central market was shrouded in shock and grief on Monday, as the body of Auwal Umar, 35, lay in a pool of blood at the front gate. Umar, a native of Katami village in Sokoto state’s Silami local government area, met his untimely demise at the hands of his friend, Bello Amakwa, 30, from Birnin Kebbi.

    According to CSP Nafiu Abubakar, Kebbi state Police spokesperson, “The suspect, Bello Amakwa, has confessed to the crime, stating that an argument they had earlier escalated into the tragic event.”
    Amakwa allegedly snuck up to Umar while he was asleep and stabbed him with a knife in the dead of night.
    The police arrested Amakwa, who is currently in custody.

    Umar’s senseless killing has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving many to ponder what could have been done differently.
    As the investigation unfolds, the police are urging youths to seek peaceful resolutions to conflicts.
    “We warn youths to desist from taking laws into their hands and instead report to the appropriate authorities,” said CP Bello M. Sani. “Justice will be served in this case, and it will serve as a deterrent to potential lawbreakers in Kebbi state.”
    As the community mourns the loss of a young life, many are left wondering how a friendship turned deadly. The case has sparked an outpouring of grief and calls for peace in the community.
