The Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), has conferred an honorary doctorate degree in Business Administration on Mr. Ayodele Subair, Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS).

This prestigious honor recognizes Subair’s outstanding contributions to the development of taxation in Nigeria and his exemplary leadership in steering LIRS to unprecedented success.

The award was presented at the institution’s 13th convocation ceremony and 25th anniversary, held on Saturday, December 14, 2024.

According to the university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, the honor is a testament to Subair’s dedication to innovation and operational excellence, which has established LIRS as a benchmark for effective tax administration in Nigeria.

Under Subair’s leadership, LIRS has achieved an impressive revenue growth of 310%. In his acceptance speech, he emphasized the transformative power of education and encouraged the graduands to serve as agents of change and champion the cause of education in their daily lives.

Subair’s achievement is not surprising, given his track record of excellence. He has received numerous awards, including the Award of Recognition from the Joint Tax Board (JTB) for his contributions to the actualization of the JTB’s vision.

The LIRS has expressed pride in Subair’s achievement, stating that the recognition reflects the values they uphold at LIRS.

“We look forward to achieving even greater milestones and fostering community development,” said Monsurat Amasa-Oyelude, Deputy Director of Corporate Communications.
