Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has tasked the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) to ensure free, fair, and credible local government elections in 2025. The governor gave the charge during the swearing-in ceremony of the LASIEC chairman and members at the Banquet Hall, Lagos House, Ikeja.
Justice Bola Okikiolu Ighile was sworn in as the chairman, alongside other members, including Mr. Samson Ajibade, Mr. Akin Durojaiye Oluwo, Dr. Olumide Olusola Metilelu, Mr. Abeeb Dapo Aileru, and Hon. Oladele Adekanye.
In his address, Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of credible elections, stating that they are the bedrock of sustainable development. He also urged the LASIEC members to be guided by a deep sense of duty, commitment to justice, and dedication to the people of Lagos State.

In a related development, Governor Sanwo-Olu inaugurated five newly rehabilitated roads in Lagos Mainland, Somolu, and Kosofe Local Government areas. The roads include St. Finbarr’s College Road, Asani, Tijani Ashogbon, Jagunmolu, Shogbamu, and Diya streets.
The governor advised residents to take good care of the upgraded roads, ensuring they stand the test of time. He also noted that the areas covered by the projects hold cultural, educational, and historical significance for Lagos State.
