Lagos Youth Ambassadors: IBILE Academy enters final stage

Published on

Lagos State’s search for its next generation of leaders is nearing its climax as the IBILE Youth Academy, a flagship program of the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, enters its final stage.

With a focus on leadership, community engagement, and volunteerism, the Academy is empowering youth with vital skills for Lagos’ future.

Over 3,763 applicants showed interest in the program this year, with 1,228 screened across Lagos’ five divisions. After a rigorous selection process, 500 participants advanced to divisional training, where they’ll receive intensive instruction and mentorship. The ultimate goal is to select 50 for an exclusive bootcamp, where one State Ambassador and five Regional Ambassadors will emerge.
Commissioner Mobolaji Ogunlende emphasized the Academy’s transformative experience, stating, “Our goal is to produce youth leaders of global calibre.” The program’s enhanced curriculum, led by experienced facilitators, aims to instill leadership and advocacy skills, empowering youth to drive community change.

The Academy aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus Agenda, prioritizing youth development. Permanent Secretary Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu noted, “The Academy addresses a national need for effective leadership by fostering citizenship, leadership, and volunteerism in young people.”
The next phase, a five-day training session from October 28 to November 1, will produce ten finalists from each division. These 50 will then compete in a seven-day residential competition to become the overall State Youth Ambassador and five Divisional Ambassadors.
To those advancing, Ogunlende advised, “Stay committed, as you represent not only yourselves but the future of Lagos. The IBILE Youth Academy is your pathway to greatness and a brighter future for all.”
