    Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture recognized for excellence in drumming heritage preservation

    The Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture has been honored once again for its exceptional contributions to the preservation, propagation and promotion of Nigeria’s vibrant cultural heritage. 

    During the recently commemorated “World Drummers Day 2025”, on the  4th of April at the National Arts Theatre, organized by the Guild of Theatre Arts Drummers (GOTHAD), Lagos State Chapter, the Council was presented with a prestigious ‘Honorary Award’ in celebration of GOTHAD’s 12th Anniversary.
    This award acknowledged the Council’s visionary leadership, cultured mentorship, and steadfast commitment to advancing drum practices and indigenous music artistry across Nigeria.
    The recognition stands as a testament to the Council’s unwavering efforts to safeguard and promote Nigeria’s cultural values, with a particular emphasis on traditional drumming—an integral aspect of African heritage and a powerful medium for storytelling.
