The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has clarified that the forthcoming council polls will take place in all 20 Local Government Councils and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in 2025.
This clarification was made by the Chairman of APC Lagos State, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, in a statement released on Sunday.
Ojelabi’s statement was in response to reports that elections would only hold in the 20 LGAs.

“We wish to inform all and sundry that the Local Government elections will be held across the state in the 20 Local Government Councils and the 37 Local Council Development Areas in the year 2025,” Ojelabi said.
The clarification comes after the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, reportedly announced that elections would only be held in the 20 LGAs, while the 37 LCDAs would co-exist under a new arrangement.
However, Ojelabi emphasized the importance of the LCDAs, stating that they have been instrumental in bringing development to the grassroots.
He listed various infrastructural projects undertaken by the LCDAs, including road construction, drainage, and market construction, among others.
“Our position as a progressive party is that we cannot discountenance the contributions of the LCDAs to the overall political and socio-economic development of the state,” Ojelabi said.
The APC chairman also called on party members and all Lagosians to continue to coexist peacefully, as the party strives to maintain the state’s leading position in the federation.
