Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has launched the construction, rehabilitation, and upgrade of 209.77km of rural roads, connecting 16 local government areas to urban markets and strengthening food security.

The projects, valued at N19.4 billion, are part of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), funded jointly by the World Bank, French Development Agency, and the state government.
At the flag-off event, Governor AbdulRazaq stated, “This project is the fruit of huge investment, strategic planning, and our commitment to rural urban development, food security, and socioeconomic growth.” He also commended the World Bank and French Development Agency for their support and announced plans to construct three Agro-logistics Centres and additional rural roads.
Senator Ashiru praised AbdulRazaq for paying the counterpart funds, required to access the grant, calling him a “lover of the masses.” Works Commissioner Abdulquawiy Olododo noted that the project will enhance connectivity, economic growth, and citizens’ quality of life, with over 170 road projects underway in 2024, 65% of which are already completed.
The State Coordinator of RAAMP, Engr Isaac Kolo, described AbdulRazaq as “visionary, goal-oriented, and passionate about the people’s well-being.”

The event was attended by national and state parliamentarians, judiciary members, cabinet members, and royalties.
AbdulRazaq urged contractors to deliver the projects on time and within specifications, and host communities to support the initiative. He also announced the signing of the Rural Access Road Agency and State Road Fund bills into law to ensure quality maintenance of the roads.
This development aligns with AbdulRazaq’s administration’s focus on rural infrastructure and agricultural development, demonstrating his commitment to the state’s socioeconomic growth and food security.
