The Kogi State Polytechnic community has once again been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of a lecturer, Mr. Anslem Victory Ojodomo.
His passing comes barely a month after the death of another lecturer, Dr. Barnabas Akuba, who died in February shortly after completing his PhD program.
According to eyewitnesses, Mr. Ojodomo collapsed on Thursday while delivering a lecture to his students.
“The incident occurred during a classroom session. The lecturer suddenly slumped while addressing the students, throwing the class into confusion and panic. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention but was later confirmed dead despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life,” a source within the school confirmed.
Staff members disclosed that apprehension has gripped the institution, as Ojodomo’s death marks the third within six weeks since the new Rector, Prof. Salihu Sanusi Avidime, assumed office on February 11.
“It is more worrisome that both Anslem and Barnabas died shortly after defending their PhD theses. Anslem was in a meeting just hours before his lecture, full of life and energy. We cannot imagine that the same man is now gone,” a staff member lamented.
