Kano – Kano’s Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission sealed a warehouse Tuesday containing diverted federal government palliative rice, valued at N1.3 billion.

Chairman Bar. Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado led the operation, arresting one storekeeper while searching for masterminds behind the diversion.
“We carried out an investigation and discovered that some individuals were sabotaging the government’s initiative by rebagging and reselling the rice meant for the downtrodden,” Rimingado said. “The bags clearly state ‘not for sale’ and feature the President’s image and ‘Ramadan Kareem.'”
The rice, meant for Ramadan distribution, filled 28 trucks. Investigators found the warehouse repackaging and rebagging rice for sale.

“This is a clear case of corruption, and we will not tolerate it,” Rimingado emphasized. “We have arrested one person, and our thorough investigation will continue to uncover those behind this diversion. We will ensure they face justice.”
Rimingado assured the public that the commission remains committed to combating corruption and protecting government initiatives.
