Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, NSITF, on Tuesday paid N25million as a compensation to an injured staff of the National Assembly, being an active member of the insurance scheme.

Managing Director/Chief Executive of NSITF, Mr. Oluwaseun Mayomi Faleye, presented the N25million cheque to the
Clerk to the National Assembly, CNA, Barrister Kamoru Ogunlana on behalf of the injured female staff in the latter’s office.

Faleye said: “This N25million compensation cheque being presented to a female staff of National Assembly who sustained injury while in service, is symbolic of what NSITF stands for.

“The Social Insurance Scheme is very important for all categories of workers in both the public and private sectors , to mitigate against any occupational hazard.

“NSITF is very committed in paying compensation to deserving enrollees, the very reason why it wants compliance from all insured workers in terms of insurance payments.”

He, therefore, maintained that the injured staff deserved the benefit, being an active member of the insurance scheme .
In his remarks, the CNA said: “This event (presentation of cheque to our staff) underscores the commitment of NSTIF in ensuring that no Nigerian worker is left financially vulnerable due to workplace related health setbacks.”

“This initiative is not just about financial assistance; it is about restoring hope, alleviating burdens, and reaffirming our solidarity with all hardworking Nigerians who contribute immensely to the growth and development of our nation.

“While I commend the NSITF for finally implementing this scheme, I will implore you to please ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive their rightful entitlements without undue delay.

“The National Assembly will give your agency the necessary legislative support that will strengthen the institutional capacity to deliver on its core mandate”.
