The Lagelu District of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has announced a collaborative partnership with the Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (OYACA).

This strategic alliance aims to leverage ICAN’s expertise in forensic investigations and financial audits to tackle corruption at local and state levels.

The partnership seeks to combine the strengths of both organizations to promote good governance, integrity, and accountability throughout the state.

Key areas of collaboration include joint training workshops, public education campaigns, collaborative investigations into financial fraud cases, and establishing a whistleblowing channel to facilitate reporting of corrupt practices.

Chief Mrs. Omokemi Oladipo (FCA), the newly appointed pioneer chairman of ICAN’s Lagelu District, commended Justice Eni Esan (rtd.), Chairman of OYACA, for her outstanding efforts in combating corruption in the state. Chief Oladipo emphasized that this partnership reflects a growing trend in Nigeria where professional organizations and anti-corruption bodies are joining forces to combat corruption more effectively.

Justice Esan expressed her agency’s readiness to collaborate closely with ICAN and praised Dr. Prince Oyebade Oyedepo (FCA), a former member of ICAN’s national governing council and current member of OYACA’s governing board, for his invaluable contributions to the agency’s mission ¹.
The partnership is expected to yield significant results in the fight against corruption in Oyo State. With their combined expertise and resources, ICAN and OYACA are poised to make a positive impact in promoting transparency and accountability in both public and private sectors.
