In a significant political shift, five lawmakers from the Labour Party (LP) have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The defection was announced during Thursday’s plenary session in the Green Chamber, with the Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, reading separate letters from each lawmaker.

Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, daughter of former Delta State Governor James Ibori, was among those who switched allegiance.

Ibori-Suenu, who represents Ethiope Federal Constituency of Delta State, was initially elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but later joined the LP.
