    Ibori’s daughter, four Labour Party lawmakers defect to APC

    In a significant political shift, five lawmakers from the Labour Party (LP) have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The defection was announced during Thursday’s plenary session in the Green Chamber, with the Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, reading separate letters from each lawmaker.

    Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, daughter of former Delta State Governor James Ibori, was among those who switched allegiance.

    Ibori-Suenu, who represents Ethiope Federal Constituency of Delta State, was initially elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but later joined the LP.

    The other defecting lawmakers are Tochukwu Okere (Imo), Donatus Mathew (Kaduna), Bassey Akiba (Cross River), and Iyawe Esosa (Edo). Their decision to join the APC marks a notable change in Nigeria’s political landscape.

    The Labour Party has vowed to take action against the defecting lawmakers, promising a showdown. This development sets the stage for potential shifts in the country’s political dynamics.
