The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that all preparations have been made for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency By-Election, scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2025.
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Oyo State, Dr. Adeniran Tella gave the assurance during an interview with newsmen, following the signing of a peace accord by political parties at the commission’s headquarters in Ibadan.
Tella stated that the commission had convened a meeting of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES).
According to him, the primary purpose of the meeting was to establish comprehensive plans to ensure the safety of both personnel and election materials during and after the voting process.
“We are committed to ensuring a secure and orderly election process. All stakeholders can rest assured that we are taking every necessary measure.”

He added, “The security of our election officials and the integrity of the voting materials are our top priorities. We have worked closely with security agencies to ensure that everything runs smoothly,” he stated.
Tella further noted that five candidates from five different political parties are vying for the position.
“The participating parties include the African Democratic Congress (ADC), All Progressives Congress (APC), Zenith Labour Party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).”
“I urge all voters to come out and exercise their franchise responsibly. Your vote is your voice, and every vote counts,” Tella said.
He reassured all stakeholders in the constituency of a free, fair, transparent, and credible election, expressing the commission’s dedication to upholding the integrity of the electoral process.
“We understand the importance of this election to the people of Ibadan North, and we are determined to deliver a process that they can trust,” Tella concluded.
