I have repented, stop looking at Oyo affairs — Makinde opens up on working with Wike, others

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has finally opened up about his past relationship with the those he “troublemakers” in the PDP.

Speaking at the commissioning of the new PDP Secretariat in Ibadan, Governor Makinde told the crowd that he is now a “born-again” politician. He admitted that after he entered government in 2019, he got tied up with certain people towards the 2023 elections. Many believe he was referring to his former allies in the G5 group, including Nyesom Wike.

The Governor didn’t hold back as he challenged Wike, who is now the FCT Minister, to stop looking at Oyo State affairs. He told the gathering that those who used to cause “problem” in the party have been pushed out since November 2025. Makinde looked relieved as he explained that the party is finally breathing fresh air.

“I’ve repented, I am now born again,” Makinde said, as he handed over the new office documents to the party leaders. This statement brought a lot of talk among the party members present, with many feeling hopeful that the constant fighting in the PDP might finally end. For the people of Oyo, it was a moment of clear talk from a governor who usually stays calm.
