GOVERNOR Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto has re-established state Hisbah Commission and inaugurate its edifice with a warning on personnel to remain focus, steadfast and respect fundamental human rights of citizens.
Inaugurating the Re-established Hisbah, the Governor warned that , the activities of the commission would be monitored and checked to avoid unruly behavior, intimidation or molesting citizens in the cause of operations.
The re-established Hisbah operations has suffered set back in the state due to neglect by the immediate past administration in the state.
At the launching and Inauguration on Thursday evening , the Governor explained that, the motive behind reviving the Hisbah was to promote islamic norms, culture, morals, discipline and values in line with the tenets of Islamic religion, societal re-orientation and for peace to thrive.
” Islam abhors satanic behavior and attitudes in all its ramifications”.
” Hisbah would be encouraged to rid the state of social vices driven by negative morals and attitudes, ” promoting religious activities was cardinal and in line with my administration’s 9-points agenda.
” I will continue to give religious affairs deserving attention with a view to ride the state of wanton social activities”
” Hisbah is not a state police but an organised body established to sanitize Muslims in the state.”
” Security Agencies should should understand that Hisbah is not a rival to their conventional operations and any arrest made will be handed over to the respective Agency for onward prosecution in a law court.
He said necessary provisions for Operational vehicles and motorcycles as well as monthly cash allocation for their operations will be constantly provided.

” soon, we will inaugurate Local Government Hisbah offices to expand operations at the grass roots”.
He explained that competent persons had been appointed to run the board for all operations to be coordinates within the ambit of the laws.
The state Commissioner for Religious Affairs Dr Jabir Sani Maihula said the revival of the state Hisbah , a body to operate under the coordination of the ministry was to ethical principles and strengthen societal morals m accordance with islamic values.
The Governor pledged to encourage and promote social sanity across the state and we appreciate the exceptional and unequalled support to the ministry by encouraging and empowering religious institutions which enable the ministry to realize its mandate.
” This is a typical example of responsive leadership. This path, would enable the achievement of the highest standard of morality , harmony and sanity to prevail “, he stressed.

Maihula further noted that the state government has in less than 2 years , demonstrated commitment to executing meaningful capital projects in forging the propagation of islamic religious activities under the ministry which include; construction and renovation of mosques, cemeteries maintenance and expansion , welfare and empowerment gestures.
Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar represented by Waziri Sokoto, Sambo Wali Junaidu appreciated and welcomed the re-establishment and revival of Hisbah in the caliphate to also strengthen its operations inorder to boost and encourage moral sanity drive.
” This will positively influence trust and sanity among citizens and reshape and enrich them in faith for societal benefit”, he pointed out.
In the same vein , the guest speaker and Kano based renowned islamic scholar, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa described the re-establishment of the Sokoto Hisbah body was a prompt step in right direction and right time by the governor .
He charged the body to display the virtues of patience , wisdom and knowledge while during operations noting that the composition of the board was instructive and well represented by competent persons with experience and determination.
The Kano state Hisbah commander Sheikh Aminu Daurawa urged Hisbah to be focused and discharged its responsibilities with trust and respecting for guiding rules and laws .
Both Hisbah commanders of Niger, Muhammad Bello Musa ; Katsina, Dr Aminu Usman and Zamfara , Sheikh Umar Hassan Gusau also commended the state government for ensuring the rebirth of Hisbah in the caliphate.
The occasion was graced by Speaker of the state assembly, Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga, a Sokoto former deputy governor, Chuso Abdullahi Dattijo, Ambassador Sahabi Isa Gada , the Sadaukin Sokoto, Alhaji Lawal Maidoki , members of the state executive council , councils Chairmen, the state Grand Khadi, politicians, Islamic scholars and Ulamas.
The climaxed of the occasion was the decoration of the Sokoto state Hisbah Commander , Dr. Usman Jatau and inspection of the new Hisbah board edifice by the state governor.
