ABUJA: Federal Capital Territory FCT minister, Nyesom Wike on Saturday led three former Governors on a visit to President Bola Tinubu at the State House.
According to a social media post by Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant SSA on Public Communication and Social Media to the minister include a former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose and former Governors of Benue and Abia States, Samuel Ortom and Okezie Ikpeazu respectively.
While details of the meeting were not made public, the former governors and their counterpart from Enugu State, Ifeanyi Uguanyi have continued to back Wike in the ongoing faceoff between him and some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.
They have also consistently supported him in the ongoing commissioning of 17 projects by President Tinubu.
At recent stakeholders meeting hosted by Wike, Ortom had praised President Tinubu for appointing the former Rivers State governor into his cabinet.
He also told the PDP stakeholders that power belongs to God and since he has given it to President Tinubu, the PDP ought to seek the face of God and wait prayerfully till when God says it is their time.
Ortom said; “I want to once again appreciate Mr President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for understanding and appreciating the fact that we must not have a one-party state in this country and that was why he identified you to appoint you into a very sensitive ministerial position as FCT.
“Thank you for not disappointing us because through your works, you have demonstrated that PDP has capacity to deliver and you have delivered.
“PDP made a lot of mistakes and so we have found ourselves where we are today. Let us lower our hands and accept that power belongs to God and he gives it to whomsoever he wills. He has given it out today and then we have to wait prayerfully, we have to seek the face of God to allow us – whoever time God will decide that we should come back, we will come. But for now, this is where we are.
“So, we are in a democratic process in Nigeria today and so let us respect the rule of law. Democracy is anchored on the rule of law and due process”.
