A Dramatic scene unfolded at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on August 5, when Fuji music icon King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, was involved in a tense altercation that nearly turned tragic.

According to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the incident began when the musician attempted to board a Lagos-bound ValueJet flight (VK 201) with an unidentified liquid, later confirmed to be alcohol. Despite repeated warnings from security personnel, K1 allegedly refused to comply with aviation regulations prohibiting liquids over 100ml at security checkpoints.

“The passenger tried to board with alcohol. He was warned repeatedly, in line with international aviation security regulations, but declined to comply,” said Mrs. Obiageli Orah, FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection.

The situation escalated when the musician reportedly spilled the alcohol on a security officer and resisted intervention from the flight captain. But the most alarming moment came when, according to a video trending online, K1 allegedly ignored the aircraft’s warning lights and attempted to stop the plane from taxiing—putting himself dangerously close to a moving aircraft.

“He moved to the front of the plane and refused to leave the area. It was only after Aviation Security officers intervened that he was escorted away,” FAAN stated.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic and frightening. One passenger said, “We couldn’t believe what we were seeing. He was right there on the tarmac, and the plane had already started moving. It was a miracle he wasn’t hit.”
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has since suspended the flight’s pilot and co-pilot for a “serious breach of aviation safety,” citing failure to follow pre-departure clearance protocols.

FAAN reiterated its commitment to safety, stating: “No individual, regardless of status, will be allowed to compromise aviation safety standards.”

The incident remains under investigation, and authorities have assured the public that all parties found culpable will be held accountable in accordance with the law.

As the story continues to trend online, it serves as a stark reminder that aviation safety is non-negotiable, even for legends.
