Imagine being sentenced to death for a crime you didn’t commit, and spending 14 long years behind bars, waiting for justice to prevail.

This is the heartbreaking story of a young man in Osun State, Nigeria, who was accused of stealing a fowl and eggs in 2010.

The case gained widespread attention after the victim’s parents, Olanrewaju and Folashade Olowookere, came forward to claim their son’s innocence.

They revealed that their son, who was just 17 at the time of his arrest, doesn’t even eat chicken because his mother trained broilers.

The parents’ plea for justice has finally caught the attention of Governor Ademola Adeleke, who has vowed to intervene and grant the young man a pardon.

Governor Adeleke has directed the state’s attorney general and commissioner for justice to investigate the case and initiate the process of granting the young man a pardon. “Osun is a land of justice and equity, and we must ensure fairness and protection of the sanctity of lives,” the governor emphasized ¹.

The governor’s actions have brought new hope to the young man and his family, who have been fighting for justice for over a decade. As the case is being reviewed, the governor has assured the public that he is personally overseeing the matter with a sense of urgency.

This story highlights the importance of fairness and justice in our society. It’s a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there’s always hope for a second chance.

Governor Adeleke’s intervention is a step in the right direction, and we can only hope that justice will prevail, and the young man will finally be exonerated.
