The Island Club has announced the death of a former Chairman and Registered Trustee, Mr. Olumuyiwa Falomo, who died on Saturday, January 31, 2025, aged 87.
The Chairman of the Club, Dr. Rotimi Martins, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday on behalf of the Board of Trustees, Management and members.
Falomo, the statement said, served the Club with distinction over several decades, holding positions including Past Chairman, Past Vice Chairman, Past Honorary General Secretary and Registered Trustee.
“Even after leaving office, Falomo remained a respected elder statesman, a trusted counsellor and custodian of the Club’s institutional memory,” the statement said.
He was described as a consummate gentleman whose intellect, eloquence and commitment to excellence helped shape the traditions and governance of The Island Club.
Beyond the Club, the late Loofosan of Ifosan, Ilesa, was a notable figure in Nigeria’s corporate and creative sectors.
He served as Chairman of Reckitt Benckiser and was Principal Consultant at Olu Falomo & Associates, where he mentored young professionals in the advertising industry.
The Island Club commiserated with his family, Ijesaland and the wider corporate community.
“His contributions to the Club and society at large will be remembered,” the statement added.
Funeral arrangements, the Club said, will be announced in due course.
