Intense rainfall has caused widespread flooding in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, submerging numerous houses and displacing residents.
The heavy downpour, which occurred between Wednesday and Thursday morning, led to the overflowing of the Ora River, affecting areas such as Isale Ora and Aduinin.
A Cherubim and Seraphim church building and a nearby wooden store were completely submerged, with other properties in the vicinity also suffering damage. Residents are urgently seeking assistance, but as of now, the state government has not responded.
For those affected, the Oyo State Emergency Management Agency (OYOSEMA) is responsible for managing emergencies and disasters in the state ². In the past, the government has released funds to support flood victims, such as the ₦17.6 billion allocated in 2012.
