A two-storey building has been razed by fire  that broke out from a living room from the top floor  of the building, Sunday morning at 14, Oko Baba Street, off Ibadan Street, in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos.

The exact cause of the fire, which began around 11 a.m., is still unknown at this time.

It was learned that the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) was alerted to the blaze at 11:50 a.m. through its emergency toll-free lines.

According to Nosa Okunbor, Head of LASEMA’s Public Affairs Unit, the agency promptly dispatched its Cobra Response Team from the Onipanu Base. Upon arrival, the team found the top floor of the building engulfed in flames.

“Initial investigations revealed that the fire started in a flat on the top floor and spread to other parts of the building,” Okunbor stated. “Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries reported during the incident, although the cause of the fire is still being investigated.”

The blaze affected a two-bedroom flat, a room and parlour self-contained unit, and a single room within the building. Thanks to the quick response from LASEMA’s team, along with support from the LASEMA Fire Unit, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, and the Federal Fire Service, the fire was eventually brought under control.

“Dampening down operations are currently ongoing to ensure there is no rekindling of the fire,” Okunbor said.”

” While the situation is under control, our teams remain on-site to ensure complete safety and extinguishment.”

LASEMA continues to monitor the situation closely to prevent any further damage.
