The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has successfully foiled five ‘one-chance’ robbery operations, rescuing three victims, including a heavily pregnant woman.

According to FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, the police have also impounded 296 vehicles for various traffic violations, such as tinted glasses, driving with only one plate number, and concealed or defaced number plates.

The police commissioner attributed the successes to the effectiveness of their proactive strategies and the importance of public collaboration in ensuring the safety of FCT residents.

In one of the incidents, police operatives from the Karimo Division responded to a distress call and arrested one Ikechukwu Nerem, rescuing a heavily pregnant woman, Doris Gabriel, who had been abducted by a gang posing as commercial vehicle operators.

Other suspects arrested included two individuals involved in robbery and conspiracy, as well as two suspects who confessed to belonging to a syndicate that uses knives and machetes to rob victims at traffic points and bus stops.

Additionally, operatives of the D20 Squad apprehended three key suspects involved in daylight robberies across Abuja, including a female suspect who confessed to the gang’s coordinated operations.

The police have also arrested a fake soldier, vandals of public property, burglars, and car theft criminals, and have commenced thorough investigations into the matters.
The FCT Police Command has urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
