The Fans Golden Club International (FGCI), a socio-cultural organization of Esan extraction, has declared its support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, in the upcoming Edo State governorship election.
The group also urged Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to remain in the Senate, citing the need for fairness and equity in the Edo Central Senatorial District.
Addressing a press conference in Benin City, Acting President of the group, Mr. Anthony E. Ifada, noted that the FGCI was founded in 1979 and comprises Esan graduates, including retired permanent secretaries, serving and retired high court judges, professors, and other professionals.
Ifada commended Governor Godwin Obaseki for championing the cause of Edo Central producing the next governor and for identifying a suitable candidate from the right area.

He described both candidates as “our sons” and emphasized the need to support them.
However, Ifada stressed the importance of equity and fairness in the choice between the two candidates, noting that the Agbazilo area of Esan has not produced a governor, while the Okpebholo area has produced two governors.
He therefore urged support for Dr. Ighodalo from the Agbazilo area to emerge as governor, while Senator Okpebholo continues his work in the Senate.
