Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has suspended the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Uchenna Igwe, over alleged gross misconduct and dereliction of duties ¹.

This move brings the total number of suspended commissioners to four within a span of just one week.

According to Governor Nwifuru, Igwe failed to carry out an assignment given to him regarding the payment of local government pensions by council chairmen in the state.

In addition to the commissioners, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, the Executive Secretaries of the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, and the Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency were also suspended for three months on November 24.
