Abuja – The Minister of Defence, Gen Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd), has launched the Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS) Go-Live Project, marking a significant shift from physical file carrying to a digital era.
This move aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes digital transformation and bureaucratic efficiency.
“Technology is the tool, but staff dedication is the driver,” Musa emphasized, urging staff to adapt to the new way of working with an open mind. The ECMS launch represents a fundamental change in conducting national security business, modernizing the civil service to meet global standards.
The Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Esther Didi Walson Jack, praised the Ministry’s commitment to digital transformation, highlighting the importance of effective record management in national security. “Any occasion that strengthens efficiency, accountability, and secure information management within the Civil Service is a welcome one,” she said.
The ECMS deployment on 1Government Cloud will enable secured digital records, automated workflows, and interoperability, driving decision-making with timely access to information. This milestone places the Ministry on track to meet the Federal Government’s directive for full digitalization of work processes by December 31, 2025.
Galaxy Backbone’s MD/CEO, Professor Ibrahim Adeyanju, stated that the ECMS is a sovereign solution designed to centralize content, enhance document security, and empower staff. The initiative aligns with Galaxy Backbone’s vision to transform government operations with secure digital platforms.
Permanent Secretary Richard Pheelangwa noted that the launch is a pivotal shift towards a paperless environment, ensuring timely and secure processing of approvals and sensitive data. The ECMS will bring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, transparency, and accountability to the Ministry.
