The Controller of the Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Dr. Ben Oramalugo, has announced an impressive revenue generation of N72,568,409,802.02 from January to November 2024.
According to him, the figure underscores the command’s commitment to enhancing economic stability in the region.
He gave the revelation at the weekend, during a year-end press conference held at the command headquarters in Agodi, Ibadan.
Dr. Oramalugo highlighted the command’s achievements and its role in protecting local industries and ensuring compliance with customs regulations, emphasing the importance of reflecting on the milestones as the year draws to a close.

“From October 30 to December 23, 2024, the command has actively enforced federal fiscal policies, generating N15,911,581,116.72 in revenue for October and November alone. This marks a remarkable 133.57% increase compared to N11,912,219,301.19 collected during the same months in 2023.”
“Cumulatively, the revenue generated from January to November 2024 reflects a 13.17% increase compared to the N64,118,678,267.69 collected in the same period last year,” he said.
Dr. Oramalugo attributed the success to the dedication of the officers, enhanced enforcement measures, and the adoption of modern trade facilitation tools, which have promoted transparency and compliance among stakeholders.
“In addition to its revenue collection efforts, the command has also intensified its anti-smuggling operations, particularly as the festive season approaches,” assuring that these strategies are designed to protect citizens’ lives, facilitate legitimate trade, and safeguard local industries.
“The command’s recent anti-smuggling initiatives have yielded significant results, including the interception of prohibited items valued at N370,772,600.00 between October 30 and December 19, 2024. Seized items include foreign parboiled rice, macaroni, premium motor spirit, second-hand clothing, used tires, and unlicensed pharmaceuticals.”
Dr. Oramalugo, however, reiterating the command’s commitment to upholding Nigeria’s economic integrity and ensuring compliance with fiscal and trade policies, reinforcing the importance of these efforts for national development.
