    Published on

An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Friday remanded two 18-year-old suspects, Usman Manu and Abubakar Usman, in a correctional facility in Ibadan, over alleged possession of guns.

The duo, whose addresses were not provided, were charged with unlawful possession of firearms.

The Magistrate, Mrs Oluwabusayo Osho, did not take the plea of the defendants for lack of jurisdiction.

Osho directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

She, thereafter, adjourned the case until Nov. 19 for mention.

The Prosecutor, Insp Olalekan Adegbite, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Sept. 9 at about 2.00 p.m at Orita Sanni village, Saki in Oyo State.

Adegbite said the defendants unlawfully possessed two locally made single barrel guns and one cartridge long gun without lawful justification.

He said the offence contravened Sections 6(b) and 3 of the Robbery and Firearms Laws of Nigeria, 2004.NAN
