COAS seeks collaboration to tackle insecurity in Niger

Niger’s top military officer, Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, is taking steps to boost security in Niger State. He recently visited the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Dr Yahaya Abubakar, to discuss ways to improve security operations in the state. Shaibu emphasized the importance of working with traditional institutions and leveraging technology to combat insecurity.

During his visit, Shaibu highlighted the need for intelligence-driven operations, particularly community-based and human intelligence, and praised traditional rulers for their critical role in providing timely and actionable information. He also outlined plans to utilize modern surveillance and operational technologies to enhance security strategies and response times.

The Etsu Nupe pledged the continued support of traditional rulers, assuring community cooperation, intelligence sharing, and prayers for operational success. He commended the Nigerian Army’s professionalism and conduct, particularly their positive engagement with local communities.
