ABUJA – PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has administered oath of office on the sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas (retd), at the presidential Villa, Abuja.
The brief ceremony was witnessed by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, and the Principal Secretary to the President, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
Meanwhile, Governor Siminalaye Fubara reportedly left the seat of power “very late” on Tuesday night shortly after the emergency rule declaration by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, according to a close source.
Meanwhile security at the government house remains scanty as at 2pm Wednesday afternoon, though two Armoured Personnel Carriers, APC, were seen stationed in front of government house with a handful of security operatives.
Normal activities are on in Port Harcourt and its environs as of the time of filing this report. It was clear that many residents of the state were yet to come to terms with what has just befall them.

Our reporter who monitored the situation in government house reports that the new Administrator will officially resume today after being sworn in. It was also gathered that machinery has been put in place to receive him, as some marked soldiers numbering about 15 were seen inside the government house ahead of the expected visit of the presidential administrator.
Meanwhile, the exact whereabout of the Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his family was not known as at the time of filing this report.
While some said he was held up in the Government House, others alleged that he must have retired to some quiet place to watch the unfolding political drama in the state.
