BREAKING: Otti’s LP loses as ZLP sweeps Abia council poll

*YPP wins 2 LGAs

The ruling Labour Party in Abia State has crashed in the Local Government election held November 2, as the little -known Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, swept the polls wining 15 of the 17 LGAs in the state.

Meanwhile, the Young Progressives Party, YPP clinched the remaining two LGAs – Ugwunagbo and Osisioma Ngwa.

The results were announced by the Chairman, Abia State Independent Electoral Commission

Chairman of Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, Prof. Chima George, announced the result of the election Saturday night at the ABSIEC headquarters, Umuahia.

“We have fulfilled the duty we were inaugurated on 5th September to carry out. It wasn’t an easy task but we went beyond and above to raise awareness about the election across the state”, he said.

The election was marred by voter apathy although it was generally peaceful.
