    Borno massacre: More people still missing as Speaker commiserates with families of 17 victims

    Following the recovery of 17 bodies of victims massacred by Boko Haram in Guzamala -Abbari village in Guzamala local government area and some parts of Nganzai local, the Speaker of Borno State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abdulkarim Lawan has commiserated with the victims’ families.

    Guzamala -Abbari village is just about 15klms drive from the newly resettled Mairari village of Guzamala council, even as Gudumbali, the local government Headquarters of Guzamala remained deserted and inaccessible for many years due to Boko Haram atrocities.

    In Guzamala-Abbari, 12 dead bodies of innocent victims have so far been recovered and given a mass burial according to Islamic injunction in Monguno, while the other five dead bodies which were recovered in nearby settlement located in Nganzai Council were buried in Gajiram town.

    Speaking on Sunday night in an emotional laden voice, the Speaker who hails from Guzamala council, has been advocating for liberation of Guzamala and to reconstitute civil authority in Gudumbali but to no avail.

    “I am highly shocked over the massacre of unspecified number of my people in Guzamala-Abbari and some parts of Nganzai local government area by terrorists.

    “So far, 12 dead bodies of Guzamala indigenes were recovered in Guzamala -Abbari village, while five other dead bodies were indigenes of Nganzai recovered in a nearby village located in Nganzai local government area during search and rescue on Sunday.

    “I commiserate with families of the victims and wish the injured ones quick recovery. May Allah (God) grant Aljannatul Firdaus to the Souls of the deceased and restore peace in our fatherland.

    “As I speak, the search and rescue mission is still ongoing as many people are still missing”, Speaker Lawan stated.

    He however commended the efforts of the military, other security agencies and members of Civilian Joint Task Force/hunters for their unwavering sacrifices in the fight against Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in Borno and the North East.

    He added that, the ongoing Desert Sanity by Troops of Joint Task Force North East ‘Operation HADIN KAI’ should be sustained to eliminate remnants of terrorists in Sambisa Forests, Manadara mountains, shores of the Lake Chad Basin and other hideouts for peace to reign.
