Suspected bandits have abducted 10 residents, including seven members of the same family, in Unguwar Sabon-Titi along the Katari–Hayin Dam axis of Kachia Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
Residents said the attack occurred around 9:32 p.m. on Thursday when heavily armed assailants stormed the community. They first entered the home of the Amos family, abducting seven members, before moving to a neighbouring house where three more residents were abducted.
Witnesses reported that the attackers initially operated quietly but began shooting sporadically after leaving with their captives. The victims were identified as Jummai Amos, Barnabas Amos, Iko Amos, Baby Amos, Eunice Amos, Eshiwan Amos, and Godwin Amos, along with Bagudu Damisa, Evelyn Damisa, and Alfred Iriyo.
A community leader confirmed the incident, lamenting that efforts to reach security operatives during the attack proved futile. “The moment I received the distress call, I tried contacting security personnel, but their lines were not connecting,” he said.
Residents trooped to the affected homes on Friday morning to sympathise with the families. Security operatives have reportedly launched a search operation in nearby forests to rescue the victims.
As of press time, the Kaduna State Police Command had yet to issue a statement on the incident.
