Akwa Ibom State Government has declared Friday, November 29, 2024, a work-free day in honour of the late First Lady, Pastor (Mrs.) Patience Eno, who will be laid to rest on that day.
According to the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Uwah, the decision was taken in consultation with the bereaved Eno family. “This is to enable Akwa Ibomites and other residents pay last respect to our mother at her obsequies in Ikot Ekpene Udo, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area that day,” Prince Uwah explained.

In a separate development, Governor Umo Eno has proscribed the Ibom Youth Council, the state youth umbrella body, citing perceived security concerns. The governor, in a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong, directed security agencies to strictly enforce the ban on all activities of the group, including meetings, rallies, and other gatherings.
The proscription, made under the powers conferred on the Governor by Section 71 of the Criminal Code Law, 39, Vol. 2, Laws of Akwa lbom State 2022, will be cited as the lbom Youth Council (proscription) Order, 2024, and takes effect immediately.
