    Police arrest suspected A’Ibom baby factory operator, rescues pregnant women, infants

    Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested one Patience Ene Jimmy, suspected operator of a baby factory harbouring seven pregnant women and five infants in Usung Atiat, Abak Local Government Area.

    DSP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command in a statement Friday said the discovery was made in a raid on an illegal maternity home allegedly involved in child trafficking, unlawful medical practice, and impersonation.

    According to the Police Spokesperson, “Operatives of the Command raided the premises and arrested one Patience Ene Jimmy, ‘f’, found harbouring seven pregnant women and five infants aged between two weeks and one year from different parts of Akwa Ibom.

    “Further search led to the recovery of various medical supplies, including syringes, drip lines, herbs, and immunization records, for which the suspect had no legal authorization.

    “The rescued women and children have been placed under protective care, while investigations are ongoing to uncover other collaborators and ensure justice is served.

    “The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, has reiterated the Command’s commitment to dismantling illegal activities endangering vulnerable individuals.”
