Hoodlums, suspected to be cultists on Friday night reportedly killed a 48-year old POS operator, Fatai Kehinde under Kuto bridge in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

The POS operator popularly called Fatty, who was said to son of the Baale of Kuto community, Abeokuta was said to have been butchered by his assailants who chased him from his shop inside Kuto market to Kuto under bridge, before he was killed.

The killing is said to be coming on the heel of the murder of another young man said to be a barber at Isale -Oja Kuto, about four days ago.

Fatty was reportedly buried on Saturday at about 2pm.

Speaking on the incident, a reliable source within Kuto community said “the killing happened last night at about 11pm. He is popularly called Fatty and the son of Baale of Kuto. He operates a POS shop and was about closing for the day when his killers drove to his shop.

The source added, “One of them pretended to be a customer that wanted to withdraw money, while about three other guys who wore masks then came out and then shot at him.

“However, the shot was said not to have penetrated and so he tried to escape by taking to his heels, but his assailants caught up with him under Kuto bridge and butchered him to death.

“It’s possible that the assailants who killed Fatty were the same gang who murdered the barber at Isale Oja Kuto about four days earlier, because we gathered that the assailants used the same jeep vehicle for their dastardly act”.

The State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, confirmed the incident on Saturday.
