The All Progressives Congress (APC) has fired back at criticisms from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and former Kaduna Governor Nasir el-Rufai, labeling their attacks as “pitiful”.

According to APC spokesman Felix Morka, “The bizarre suggestion by opposition figures… that our great Party may be complicit in the internal corrosion of opposition parties is pitiful, and only an incompetent alibi for their crass failure to manage their own affairs.”
The APC’s response comes after Atiku warned that Nigeria’s democracy is under threat due to judicial involvement in electoral matters. Atiku also alleged that President Bola Tinubu’s administration was paying opposition leaders N50 million each to weaken the opposition.
The APC dismissed these allegations as “bogus and laughable,” stating that Atiku’s political desperation is responsible for the PDP’s disintegration. “Peddling rumors and unsubstantiated allegations should be beneath anyone in the standing of an elder statesman,” the party added.
The APC also criticized Atiku’s history of using the courts to further his political agenda, saying, “It’s time for him to take a step back and let the democratic process unfold without his interference.”

Ultimately, the APC believes that Nigeria’s democracy is stronger than Atiku’s political ambitions. “We deserve better than petty politicking and alarmist rhetoric from an elder statesman,” the party concluded.
