Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, has charged the ministry’s staff to be committed and serious about the principles of Performance Management Systems, PMS; Digitalization, Cloud Computing, Enterprise Content Management, ECM, and the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System, IPPIS which he described as a step toward enhancing their productivity in the service.

Gaidam, according to a statement issued weekend by the Deputy Director, Information & Public Relations Unit in the ministry, Bolaji O. Kazeem, stated this during the five-day intensive training on PMS; Digitalization; Cloud Computing; Cloud Computing Architecture; ECM; Implementation of IPPIS; and capacity building on anti-corruption and transparency held at the conference rooms in the Federal Secretariat, Abuja.

The minister, who was represented by the Acting Director of Human Resource Management, Mr. Olure O. Amos stated that “the training would facilitate staff fulfilling their roles, developing new initiatives, and creativity, and exhibiting unwavering dedication in the service to the ministry and their commitment to excellence, accountability, and result-driven management as well as improve the quality of lives of citizens that would set Nigeria on the path of sustainable development”.

He pointed out that PMS in all ministries, departments and agencies, MDAs provided that there shall be a clear link between performance management outcomes/results and rewards, adding that “employee performance shall largely be used to determine rewards and recognition.”

“It is pertinent for all to know that Nigerian citizens rely on us to execute policies, programmes, and projects and deliver services that enhance their well-being, and planned development that woul9d significantly contribute to Gross Domestic Product, GDP.

“Therefore, as custodians of public trust, we must be transparent and accountable in-service delivery to Nigerian citizens to promote sustainable development.

“Performance management, when executed effectively, serves not only as a tool for assessing our strengths and areas of improvement but also as a roadmap for growth, innovation, and excellence,” he explained.

Engr. Adetayo Olokunbola who was one of the facilitators at the training stated that the goal of e-government is to provide non-stop government services thus creating a friendly easy-to-use mechanism for the public and corporate to locate information and use services available on the net, adding that it is closely followed by greater access to public information and more convenient government services.

He said: “While digitization focuses on converting and recording data, digitalization is all about developing processes and changing workflows to improve manual systems. Technology is only destructive in the hands of people who do not realize that they are valuable. Security is a top priority, so protect your data.”
