“You Owe Your Political Success to Us”, PDP replies Kwankwaso

Published on

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has responded to Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso’s claim that the party is dead, with Acting National Chairman Amb. Umar Damagum saying Kwankwaso should be grateful to the PDP for his current political stature.

Damagum’s response came after Kwankwaso made the declaration in an interview with the Hausa Service of the BBC on Monday.

The PDP chairman noted that despite Kwankwaso’s exit from the party in 2015, the PDP remains strong and has continued to produce governors and lawmakers across the country.

“We nurtured him and contributed significantly to his political success,” Damagum said.

“We still hold hope that he might return to the party and contribute to its rejuvenation, so we can collectively address the injustices of the current government.”

Damagum also questioned the impact of Kwankwaso’s move to other political platforms, asking how many states he has won with his new party. “The facts speak for themselves,” he said.

“For over two decades, the PDP has remained steadfast, maintaining its identity and producing governors and lawmakers in every part of the country.”

The PDP chairman acknowledged that Kwankwaso’s claims about the party’s challenges in the past are valid, but emphasized that the party has always supported its members and ensured they are given the opportunity to thrive.

He expressed hope that Kwankwaso will return to the party and join them in addressing the injustices faced by Nigerians under the current administration.
