    Coronation of Oba Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye Titiloye Olufayo II: A New Era for Oro Kingdom

    In a historic ceremony, Oba Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye Titiloye Olufayo II has ascended to the throne as the new Oloro of Oro Kingdom in Kwara State.

    The coronation, which took place on the grounds of the ancient Oro Grammar School, marked the return of his lineage to the throne after 234 years.

    The event was attended by dignitaries, including Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Hon. Femi Agbaje Whyte.

    The governor urged the new monarch to lead with integrity, fairness, and compassion, while prioritizing the community’s development and progress.

    Other notable attendees included the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo and Chairman of Irepodun Traditional Council, Oba Ismail Yahyah Alebiosu; Senators Saliu Mustapha and Lola Ashiru; and Hon. Raheem Tunji Olawuyi Ajulopin, Member of the House of Representatives.

    In his remarks, Oba Alebiosu commended the state government for ensuring a seamless selection process and advised the new Oloro to work closely with the Oloro-in-Council, chiefs, elders, and other traditional rulers to strengthen the kingdom’s unity and progress.

    The coronation ceremony featured traditional rites performed by the Oloro-in-Council, as well as cultural activities and entertainment.

    The Executive Secretary of the National Institutes of Cultural Orientation (NICO), Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, highlighted the cultural significance of the coronation, noting its role in preserving Nigeria’s rich heritage.

    Dr. Thomas Adewumi, founder of Thomas Adewumi University, praised the industrious spirit of the Oro community and revealed plans for a tertiary health institution in Kwara South.
