    FG proposes N670m to upgrade 9 traditional rulers’ palaces in 2025

    The federal government has earmarked N670 million for the upgrade of palaces belonging to nine traditional rulers across the country.

    The proposed upgrade is part of the 2025 budget and will involve interventions from six ministries, including Works, Housing and Urban Development, Water Resources, Science and Technology, Tourism, and Power.

    The upgrade will focus on road construction, provision of solar streetlights, boreholes, and addressing ecological challenges.

    Some of the specific projects proposed include emergency repairs of the Offa Palace to Ariku-Oko Road, renovation of the Palaces of the Alumuwo of Kuje Amuwo in Lagos State and the Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti in Ekiti State, and construction of a Town Hall at Isinkan, Iralepo’s Palace in Akure South Local Government of Ondo State.

    Other projects include the provision of solar-powered boreholes, motorized boreholes, and solar-powered lights for various palaces.

    The National Commission For Museum and Monument has also proposed to spend N10 million on the rehabilitation of the Iga Idungaran old Oba of Lagos palace and the Zaria City Walls in Kaduna State.

    The proposed upgrade is expected to improve the infrastructure and amenities at the palaces, which are important cultural and historical institutions in the country.
